It was a tall order to ask but FC Bayern Munich were up to the task today in Munich, Germany at the Allianz Arena in their first leg semi final match of the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich came out focused and determined to get the result they needed and did just that with an impressive 2-1 victory.

Receiving goals from Franck Ribery in the first half (17) and then the game winner from Mario Gomez just before stoppage time in the second (90), Bayern Munich have their fate in their own hands heading into next weeks return leg in Madrid.

In what seems a simple task (but it is not), win at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and Munich will advance to the Finals, ironically, at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Madrid received no help from superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo but did receive a second half goal (53) from Mesut Özil and that lone goal was all they could manage.

Real Madrid had not trailed all year in Champions League play at halftime until tonight and with tonight's result, Real Madrid have still never won in Munich.

You can catch what should be an exciting return leg in Madrid next Wednesday, April 25th, on FX at 12:30 CST.
