On Tuesday, Troy Aikman was in Brownsville, Tx. at the opening of a new Wingstop Sports.  A reporter from the Brownsville Herald had a quick Q&A with the three time Super Bowl winning quarterback (and Wingstop spokesman.)

Most of the questions were innocuous in nature, but one of Aikman's answers did catch the attention of the national media.  When the reporter asked, "Who do you think is the better quarterback, you or Tony Romo?" Aikman had this to say.

I think Tony already is a better quarterback than I was. I know how quarterbacks are judged but as far as his play-making ability and the things that he is capable of doing, he is a far more athletic quarterback, capable of making more plays than I ever was able to. He has a good team around him and hopefully, and I believe this will happen, I believe that he will win a Super Bowl before he is done playing.

In any slow week Aikman's comments would have made an even bigger national splash.  This just happened to be the week where the Saints lost their coach for a year, and Tim Tebow was traded to the Jets.

As much fun as it would have been to watch Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith endlessly debate Romo's merits, I applaud Aikman's modesty and perspective.

Unlike most myopic fans, Aikman realizes there is more to judging a quarterback than the amount of Super Bowl rings on his fingers.  Convincing the Cowboys fan base of this, however, is easier said than done!
