Today, MountainStar Sports Group, El Paso Chihuahuas, Pacific Coast League, El Paso Live, and MCAD met the media at Southwest University Park to discuss Triple-A All-Star week in July. Among the announcements was a new scholarship program for high school students and a special wrestling style belt awarded to the Home Run Derby Champion.

The All-Star Legacy Scholarship Program will be available to area high school students in pursuit of a post secondary education. It will provide financial support to them as they pursue a college degree. Prospective students will have until May 30th to apply for the program and can enter as high school freshmen. They must maintain a 2.5 GPA and a minimum of 20 community service hours per year. Five students from El Paso and Dona Ana County areas will be selected for the All-Star Program. The wrestling style belt was revealed by Pacific Coast League President Branch Rickey, and it will be awarded to the Home Run Derby Champion on Monday, July 8th. Individual tickets for the Derby and All Star Game will go on sale tomorrow to every fan that attends the Chihuahuas game versus the Albuquerque Isotopes. They can be purchased at the Advance Ticket Window behind Section 112. Tickets to both events will go on sale Thursday at 9 a.m. to the general public.

Visit El Paso announced that they will promote the three-day event via a digital marketing campaign to a large area in order to attract fans from other cities. MCAD will be showcasing the History of Baseball in El Paso at the Museum of History, and the ribbon cutting will be in July.
