UTEP men's basketball head coach Rodney Terry told the media last week during his roster unveil that the team was close to releasing their full schedule.

As teams release their 2018-19 schedules, UTEP is starting to pop up on some non-conference schedules, with tough competition coming the Miners' way in the near future.

Last week, Marquette released their schedule, where it showed that they will be hosting UTEP on Dec. 4. Marquette finished 21-14 in the 2017-18 season, and ranked in the top-15 offenses and the third-best 3-point shooting team in the country.

Yesterday, Pac-12 powerhouse Arizona released its schedule and tabbed the Miners visiting the Wildcats on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The Wildcats are coming off a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they were upset by Buffalo. The last time the two faced off was in 2014, where UTEP put up a well-fought game against the Wildcats, but lost 60-55.

The 57th Annual WestStar Bank Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational, set for Dec. 21-22, will place the Miners in a four-team tournament against Wyoming, East Tennessee State and Norfolk State.

Now, Miner fans will wait on the official release of the team's schedule to see who their non-conference opponents will be. Scheduling NMSU is an obvious one for the Miners, and I'm hearing that the classic rivalry against New Mexico will be renewed for another season. But the question is will Terry continue to schedule strong opponents like Marquette and Arizona, or schedule some easier opponents down the line?

Only time will tell. But for now Miner fans, enjoy the excitement of new schedules coming out and be on the look out for UTEP's non-conference schedule.
