Some people feel that the NFL, NBA, or NHL have the greatest playoff system.  Not me!  There is only one playoff system that is worthy of being called the greatest tournament on Earth, and it is right around the corner.

March Madness is upon us, and everyone and their brother is jumping for joy.  It all begins with the conference tournaments, then selection Sunday leads us to the NCAA Tournament.  It is the ultimate tournament because quite simply anyone can win.

Sure the experts say that the teams from the power conferences will win the majority of the time, but as we know all to well, there are always upsets.  It is a tournament where a team from an obscure conference like the Horizon League can make it to the championship game 2 years in a row.  They were a long 3 point shot away from beating Duke to win the 2010 NCAA Championship.  If you didn't know who Butler was a few years ago, chances are you do now.

Some people wonder if we will ever see another Texas Western or Villanova win a National Championship ever again, or if the teams from the power conferences will continue to dominate. I feel that it is just a matter of time until a team from a mid major conference wins a National Championship.

Teams like Butler, VCU, and George Mason have proven that despite being from a small conference, and being a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, as long as you are dancing you have a chance to win it all.   After all it is one of the most exciting times of the year for sports.  The ultimate playoff system where you must win 6 games to win a championship.  The most challenging aspect of your journey is attempting to beat 6 different teams with their own unique styles of play and different coaching philosophies as well.

This March will be no different, more memories will be made, hearts will be broken, and some team that no one has ever heard of will make a run.  Yep, it's time for the big dance!
