Texas Now Has Over 48,000 Fatalities From Coronavirus
The loss of life in Texas is just sickening.
More than 48,000 Texans have died of COVID-19 (as of noon on April 9th, 2021, it's 48,109). Do you think those numbers are inflated? Okay, what if it was half of that at 24,000? We have reached the point where almost everybody knows at least one person who died of the novel coronavirus. In Lubbock, we've seen 724 deaths.
I hope you will take either of these scary numbers in mind and get vaccinated. Heck, I wouldn't mind if you skipped it and took your chances, but we both have to be concerned about the people you could potentially give it to.
Even with a population of around 29 million people, 48,000 is a huge number. I know we've all seen those signs saying "over 3,600 have died on Texas Highways" (2018 figure) and said, 'whoa, I better slow down.' That number represents less than a tenth than have died in this pandemic.
You put on your seat belt, so pick up the phone or click here and make an appointment to get vaccinated. I know some of you always say 'it's just my luck that I....". Well, don't let it be "just your luck" that you're the one that gets infected with serious consequences.
This pandemic isn't over yet. We've had around 100 Texans die in the last 24 hours. We need to fight on and get ourselves, our friends and our families vaccinated. It's one of the greatest things you can do for yourself, and one of the nicest things you can do for others.
You can track these numbers if you choose to on the Texas COVID-19 Dashboard. If you want to keep track of what's happening here at home, you can do that with the Lubbock COVID-19 Dashboard.
