The 31-24 loss to Fresno State (10-2) in the PUBG Mobile New Mexico stings a little more knowing that the Miners had multiple opportunities to win this game.
Less than 24 hours after they learned of their bowl destination, the UTEP football team was out practicing for the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, December 18.
UTEP football head coach Dana Dimel, who is leading the Miners on a 5-1 start to the 2021 season, is the lowest-paid coach in all of Conference USA, according to USA Today.
The UTEP football program celebrated their 30-3 victory over rivals NM State, which marked their first win in the Battle of I-10 since 2016 and the first under fourth-year head coach Dana Dimel.
The latest college football casualty is New Mexico State, which announced early Thursday morning that the program will postpone the fall season to spring due to "COVID player health & safety concerns as well as 14-day quarantine requirement when traveling back into (New Mexico)."
While the Big Ten and Pac-12 decided earlier this week to postpone fall sports, the Big 12 still has plans to play this fall. And as of now, the UTEP-Texas opener is still on with a new date in place due to a league-wide schedule adjustment.
