After their disappointing season-opening loss to Jacksonville State, the Miners must now flip their focus to a good FCS Incarnate Word squad.

On Monday, the UTEP football squad marched to Glory Field to turn the page on a disappointing season-opening loss to Jacksonville State, as they prepare for their first home game on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Going into its game with the University of Incarnate Word, the UTEP Miners really didn't know much about the Cardinals. But Incarnate Word became flesh and dwelt among the Miners a lot longer than UTEP would have liked.

When UTEP discovered that Incarnate Word was on their schedule for their home opener, they circled that game and licked their chops assuming it would be an easy win.  Most fans probably didn't know that Incarnate Word even had a football team, after all, they've only been playing the sport since 2009...

The UTEP Miners got a much needed 81-65 victory over Incarnate Word on Monday night, ending a three game losing streak.  The Miners dictated the pace from the opening tip to the final buzzer as they went on a 31-8 run early in the first half to take a 34-14 lead; one that they never relinquished...
