Scholarship Players Take an Extra Year of Eligibility

(AP) — More than 1,000 scholarship players in major college football are expected to take advantage of the NCAA’s offer of an extra year of eligibility for playing through the pandemic. All those extra, older players are expected to play a major role in next season. At Illinois, having about 15 super seniors was seen as a way to accelerate an Illini turnaround for an investment of about $500,00 in additional financial aid.
