The sports entertainment world is still mourning the loss of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper. Although the pro wrestling legend gave many interviews during his career, Hot Rod was a guest on Sportstalk nearly 13 years ago. At that time, he had just finished his autobiography, In the Pit with Piper: Roddy Gets Rowdy.

The book was written in his own words, and told his life story from running away from home at the age of 13 to his first pro wrestling match two years later. Piper spent an hour with us on the phone during that November 2002 radio interview, and he talked about everything from his love of playing the bagpipes to his favorite wrestlers that he worked with both in and out of the ring. The interview was never replayed on 600 ESPN El Paso until this afternoon, when we had the opportunity to enjoy the war stories from one of the all time greatest performers in the squared circle.
