Rio Grande Valley Native Leaves Her Mark at WWE Royal Rumble
WWE wrestler and Texas native, Raquel 'Gonzalez' Rodriguez entered her first Royal Rumble and made a lasting impact.
Raquel Rodriguez is a second-generation wrestler and daughter of professional wrestler Rick Gonzalez better known as Ricky “Desperado” Gonzalez.
Initially going by the ring name Raquel Gonzalez, she's now known professionally as Raquel Rodriguez.
Born in La Feria, Texas, Raquel is a true blue Rio Grande Valley native. Her special move is even called the "Tejana Bomb."
As a resident of the RGV in south Texas, her hometown is the same place professional American football defensive back Jim Hudson went to high school.
Raquel, most likely always destined to join the family business of wrestling, was scouted by the WWE Universe in 2017 when she participated in the first Mae Young Classic Tournament.
She made her WWE Smackdown debut last year, on April 8th, 2022, and then quickly began leaving a trail of destruction.
Here's a quick recap of her stellar career thus far:
- WWE Women's Tag Team Champion
- NXT Women's Champion
- NXT Women's Tag Team Champion
- 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Winner
This year's inaugural WWE pay-per-view event, the Royal Rumble, was the perfect place for Raquel to take names, kick-ass, and leave her mark.
It was her first one, and she trained extensively for it.
