Report: Blake Sims Invited to NFL Combine
Former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims will have an opportunity to showcase his skills as a passer ahead of the NFL Draft now that he has received a coveted invite to the NFL Scouting Combine.
According to FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman, Sims will have the opportunity to travel to Indianapolis in February to workout for coaches and interview with front office personnel. The event is a week-long job interview for the top college players in the country as NFL teams evaluate which players they want to add to their rosters.
One year ago, fans and media didn't expect this quarterback turned running back turned quarterback again to win the starting job left behind by AJ McCarron. Most everyone expected Florida State transfer Jacob Coker to win the job, but Sims earned the spot out of fall camp.
Under the guidance of offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, Sims led the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance. He spearheaded one of the school's most potent offensive attacks with efficiency. His 64.5% completion rate was among the nation's best and he set a school record with 3,487 passing yards last season.
