A local non-profit will be conducting an emergency food giveaway Saturday morning to help families struggling to put food on the table in the face of the COVID-19 crisis

Operation H.O.P.E. will be distributing boxes of groceries Saturday March 21, starting at 8 a.m. at the El Paso County Coliseum, 4100 Paisano. The emergency food giveaway is “a drive thru event” so that contact can be minimized.

One grocery box per vehicle will be distributed to the first 750 vehicles, according to the event post.

Operation H.O.P.E., which stands for Helping Other People Endure, is an El Paso-based non-profit whose mission is “to help people endure difficult times by providing hope and helping meet basic needs” in our community.

The organization hosts back to school and Thanksgiving food giveaways annually, and recently worked with local funeral homes to help cover funeral expenses for families of those whose lives were taken in the Aug. 3rd Walmart mass shooting.
