The Minnesota Vikings have released a statement about the Adrian Peterson situation, and have essentially deferred the option to the NFL.

This past weekend, the NFL Players Association said that they were looking to get Peterson reinstated as soon as possible. The NFL is still conducting its personal conduct policy review.

The Vikings, on the other hand, are not calling one way or another of what they want. In an official statement released today, the Vikings say that the NFL is in control.

"In regards to Adrian Peterson's status with the Minnesota Vikings, at this time his potential reinstatement is under NFL guidelines. As an organization, we respect and understand the league’s process. In the interim, our focus is on the team and preparing for this weekend's game against the Bears." - Minnesota Vikings

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Peterson could return as of December but also reports that Vikings executives are split on whether they want him back to finish the year.
