JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting tight end Marcedes Lewis for Sunday's season opener against Kansas City.

Coach Gus Bradley ruled out Lewis on Friday following his third consecutive missed practice.

Lewis initially injured his left calf in warm-ups before the team's second preseason game, Aug. 17 at the New York Jets. He missed the final three exhibition games. He was full go and felt good Monday, but tweaked his calf early in practice Wednesday.

Bradley says the team is going to be cautious with his return.

Lewis says his latest injury isn't as bad as the first one: "It's sort of like if you had a scab and re-opened a scab," he says. "I can already tell my calf is starting to come around a little quicker."
