Have the Eyes of Texas closed on Longhorns football coach Mack Brown? Earlier this morning, Orangebloods.com reported that Brown would step down after 16 years as head football coach at the University of Texas. The University denied the report, but a UT Board of Regent meeting on Thursday could decide the head coach's future. In the meantime, Brown, who is recruiting in Florida texted Horns247.com's Bobby Burton that he has no plans to step down.

"I'm in Florida recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here. I have not decided to step down."

If Brown does step down, there are plenty of rumors circulating around Austin that Alabama head coach Nick Saban could take over the Longhorns football program at Texas. Saban is under contract with Alabama through the end 2020, but Texas would gladly offer him more than his current contract of $5.3 million annually. Stay tuned.
