Lent 2022: Best El Paso Spots for Fish Tacos & Fried Fish
The Lent season this year begins with Ash Wednesday on March 2, 2022 -- thirteen days later than last year -- and if you are following the 40 days tradition, ends roughly six weeks later on Holy Saturday, April 16.
And in case you're wondering why Ash Wednesday in observed on different dates year to year, according to my way-more-religious-than-me radio co-host, it's because it is determined by the phases of the moon not by the calendar.
No matter when the Lenten season falls on the calendar, if you are Catholic and you take this time of the year seriously, aside from getting ashes you’re supposed to ditch beef and chicken on Fridays and eat fish instead.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of the scaly sea creatures -- at least not baked or grilled. But throw it in some batter and deep fry that sucker, or wrap it in a corn tortilla and top it with some kind of sauce or some pico de gallo and I'm all in.
Because I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels that way, here are the best places for fried fish and/or fish tacos in El Paso according to the local Yelp community of in-the-know peeps.
