The Minnesota Timberwolves went big with the first pick in the 2015 NBA draft last night. The Timberwolves took 6-foot-11 Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, who averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds during his only season with the Wildcats. Towns is the third Kentucky player to be selected No. 1 overall in the past six years. It's the sixth straight year a freshman was taken No. 1 and it was the most freshmen taken in the first round of the draft with 13. The L.A. Lakers went against the trend as they didn't take Duke center Jahlil Okafor with the second pick, instead they took Ohio State point guard DeAngelo Russell.

Locally, former UTEP Miners Vince Hunter and Julian Washburn were not drafted in the NBA Draft.
