It has been three years since Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fought Andy Lee in front of 13,467 fans at the Sun Bowl for the WBC World Middleweight Title. Since that 7th round TKO, the former world champion is 2-2 including a stunning 9th round loss to Andrzej Fonfara in April. Following that fight, JC Jr. changed trainers and he now has Robert Garcia in his corner. Next Saturday, Chavez Jr. will return to El Paso to meet Marcos Reyes at the Don Haskins Center in a much anticipated match that will be televised on Showtime. The fight at 168 pounds is the main event of a huge doubleheader of boxing in El Paso, which includes the Premier Boxing Champions at the Haskins Center earlier that day. Tickets are on sale now beginning at $25 and include admission to the PBC Show Saturday afternoon.

Chavez Jr. took time from his training camp to call into Sportstalk yesterday afternoon and discussed his new trainer, returning to El Paso, and fighting in the shadow of his father, arguably the greatest Mexican champion in the history of boxing.
