Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Back To The Ring After 9 Month Suspension
It was last September, when Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, lost his WBC middleweight title to Sergio Martinez. It was after the fight that things went from bad to worst for Chavez, his post fight drug test came back positive for marijuana. The Nevada State Athletic Commission fined Chavez $900,000, and suspended him for nine months.
On Wednesday, Top Rank announced, Chavez will be back in the ring September 7th against Brian Vera in a Super middle weight bout.
23-6 Vera was featured on the 3rd season of "The Contender." Vera also has a win over Andy Lee, yes the same Andy Lee that Chavez fought and TKO'd here in El Paso prior to his fight with Martinez.
I honestly feel this could be Chavez's chance to prove to many doubters that he is a better fighter than what many people would give him credit for. I guess it really depends on how serious he wants to take boxing this time around.
Chavez looked very disrespectful and lazy prior to his fight against Martinez, However I feel that if he would really get his head in the game, he could become the fighter that may bring him out of his fathers shadow.
I guess only time will tell but the road is set, for a big come back for the son of a legendary fighter.
Here is a clip from one of my favorite shows about Chavez Jr.
