The spring/summer hours for Scenic Sundays will be 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. starting April 2, the City of El Paso announced. Vehicles are not allowed on the road from Wheeling to the Rim Road-Robinson entrance during those four hours of the morning every Sunday from now through September.

This allows anyone who wants to take in one of our majestic sunrises while getting their steps and exercise the ability to do so without having to worry about traffic on the one-lane, winding roads of the iconic landmark.

Starting Saturday, April 1, the entrance hours for Ascarate Park also adjust for spring and summer.

The county green space, located at 6900 Delta, is the largest public-use recreational park inside and outside El Paso city limits.

Amenities at the 408-acre park include a Community Fishing Lake, playgrounds, picnic shelters, as well as pedal boat, kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals available at the Blue Gill Bar and Grill.

It is also home to the El Paso County Healing Garden, a peaceful space dedicated to the innocent lives taken during the mass shooting at the Cielo Vista Walmart on August 3, 2019.

The spring/summer hours for Ascarate as well as all El Paso County parks is 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
