La Bang Bang: A Fresh Face With Exciting Flavors In Downtown El Paso
La Bang Bang is joining El Paso's Downtown Restaurant Week this year and even though they're only 2 months old, they are showing up with some INCREDIBLE dishes. You may have heard about this brand new restaurant and bar that opened recently on San Antonio Ave Downtown. If you haven't, but you drive around down there frequently, you probably noticed the pop in color. To the left of Rosewood Bars cool and imposing slate store front with its pitch black doorway and skeleton door handle sits, La Bang Bang, a bright blue splash of inviting color with big open windows beckons you to step inside.
Franco Vaca opened La Bang Bang just 2 months ago but he didn't want the restaurant to fall flat and offer things everyone has had before. Franco didn't want to serve what everyone else was serving, so for Downtown Restaurant Week, Franco is introducing a few amazing dishes that will blow your taste buds right off your tongue!!
First, lets start with the most basic dish but still one of the most delicious, the Bacon Ranch Loaded Fries! When our fries arrived, we were very pleased and even though we knew we had more food on the way, we could not stop munching on these things. Creamy ranch with crisp and tender bacon bits smothering perfectly seasoned fries that were both crunchy AND soft. We had to pull ourselves away from these things in order to save room for the rest of the food.
NEXT UP, we got La Bang Bangs next special for Downtown Restaurant Week, the Detroit Style Pepperoni Pizza. Let me tell you, this pizza is no joke. It is thick, the crust and cheese blend together in a perfectly cooked combo that covers the edge of the pizza in a perfect cheese crisp. Each bite is packed with ingredients, cheese, pepperoni, and a delicious sauce with a subtle little spicy kick to it. The pizza is also deceptively deep, with a lot more bang for you buck than you'll expect.
Finally, we get to the absolute best part of the meal. I have to admit, I am not a fan of wings at all, I don't like 'em whatsoever but I had to go back for seconds of these wings. Franco said these wings are something special that no one else in El Paso has and tasting them, I can tell they're going to be a huge hit here. The flavor is so rich and absolutely perfect, it lingers on your tongue with a mild kick that explodes with flavor in every single bit. The bites themselves are satisfying and perfect, each bite from the wings is crispy in the most satisfying way but the meat on the inside is so beautifully tender your mouth wont know how to handle it. These wings will absolutely keep you coming back for more, I don't even like wings and I ate TOO MANY.
Go and check out La Bang Bang for Downtown Restaurant Week and be sure to tune in to Iris and Grizz in the Morning on Monday, April 22nd when we will have Franco Vaca on the show at 8AM talking all about his new place downtown and how excited he is for everyone to try La Bang Bang.
