Brace yourself New Mexico and before you continue reading, don’t yell at me. I'm just the messenger.

There’s a new report that has listed the top states to live in and while Texas isn’t too far up on the list it’s New Mexico’s rank that has people wondering, “Is New Mexico the worst place to live in?”

WalletHub dove deep into the details of what makes a state a great place to live based on home ownership, housing cost, crime, education and more.

Number one on the list of top states to live in is Massachusetts. Texas falls at number 37 with a total score of 34.

However, the last state on the list is only a few miles away from us. Yup, New Mexico landed at the final spot, 50.

New Mexico got a score of 26 and now I’m having flashbacks to my middle school math grades.

Sure, the Land of Enchantment might have snagged a halfway decent score in the economy part, sliding in at 25th place. But when it comes to quality of life, it was 31st place.

But wait, there's more... of the bad stuff! Education? Health? Yeah, New Mexico was practically waving the white flag, landing at a disappointing 47th place.

Safety? Crime rate? New Mexico snagged the 50th spot. And don't even get us started on poverty. The state landed at 48th place.

So, if you're daydreaming about which state's living the high life, pack your bags, because it's none other than the brainy bunch in Massachusetts, well, that’s according to this survey.

Do I agree with this list? Nah, but I’m also biased because I love a good road trip to Las Cruces or Albuquerque!
