A first-of-its-kind event is happening here in El Paso and it's an event that is celebrating 50 years of hip-hop culture!

Locals are invited to the first-ever “All Elements Hip Hop Exhibition” that will be happening on Thursday, June 29th at Funkmeyers Rec Room in east El Paso.

“I’m so happy to do events in my city here in El Paso, using the networks that I created just trying to provide spaces for people to have fun and enjoy themselves,” said Rob “Nice” Santos, founder of Rap Seminar. “I started rap seminar to help emcees learn more about the literary component of their lyricism and their songwriting, and so through that, I’ve gotten opportunities to do events,” said Rob.

One of those events is the All Elements hip-hop exhibition. Thanks to a grant from the Museum of cultural arts, Rob was able to create an event that is intended to provide a better understanding of what hip-hop culture is all about.

“We are gonna have DJs, emcees, break-dancers, graffiti artists, vendors and we’re featuring world-renowned artists from out of town for example we’ll have BocaFloja who is a world-renowned emcee from Mexico city,” said Rob. “We're gonna have Desert Eagle productions doing a break dance exhibition. We’ll also have a producer showcase and open breakdancing cipher and an open freestyle cipher for people who wanna rap and get their chops in and show us what they got.”

Rob is excited to put together an event that focuses on not just one, but all elements of hip-hop culture.

“There’s something to be said about having a little island of peace within the culture where we can celebrate and enjoy each other's company and just have a party,” said Rob.

Educating the community on hip-hop culture and bringing people together through music and art is something that Rob is happy to do in the city he calls home.
