According to the list-happy financial website Wallethub, El Paso is among the best cities in America to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Per the voodoo science they used to determine the Best Cities for New Year's, the Sun City is the 19th best in the U.S. and the third-best in Texas ranking higher than Houston and Dallas.

Wait, what?! You’re drunk Wallethub, go home.

To be honest, I’m not a good judge of how accurate or inaccurate the “study” is. Nowadays, I’m more of a snore in the new year kind of guy than the ring it in type.

As far as I’m concerned, if being in my stretchy sweat pants by 8 p.m. is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Methodology

To determine its rankings, Wallethub used 29 metrics, including party-scene affordability, entertainment options, and safety and accessibility.

El Paso, they concluded, is the most affordable place to party like it’s almost 2023.

We took the #1 spot in the “costs” category based on the average price of drinks, meals, and cover charges and tickets to get into clubs or restaurants.

That top ranking and the 12th spot in the “safety” category contributed greatly to our overall high ranking. We didn’t do too bad in the “entertainment options” category either, placing 45 out of 100.

And cheers to me trying to stay awake until 10 p.m. so I can ring in the New Year with Ryan Seacrest.
