Experts Warning Texans Not To Send Checks Through Mail
My grandma was notorious for something like this; but now, experts are warning everyone in Texas- and everywhere- to stop doing this!
The United States Postal Service and experts are warning everyone: do not send checks through the mail!
United States Postal Service workers have seen a recent spike in attacks against workers. At the same time, there was an increase in mailboxes being being raided; both residential mailboxes and the blue USPS collection boxes.
It's been reported that in the first half of this fiscal year, 305 mail carriers were robbed; in 2022, there were 412 robberies. Earlier this year, the USPS released a statement on how they're enhancing employee safety and how they plan to protect your mail.
Obviously, with the rise of crime, if your letter happens to contain a check, there is a huge chance it could be stolen! USPS has advised against leaving any letters that may contain important documents, or even checks, in your mailboxes or even in the blue USPS collection boxes. Instead, what the agency advises is you go right inside to your local post office to send mail.
It may seem weird that people are still sending actual letters through the mail; who still does that?! I know some people who don't even check their mailboxes anymore because they know that anything important can come through their e-mail.
However, it's important to be vigilant, especially during the holiday season; you never know who will be sending you a Christmas card!
