WalletHub has put together a list of 2023's Best- & Worst- Run Cities in America and it turns out one of the best is just a hop, skip and a jump away from El Paso.

Can you guess which one?

It is - Las Cruces, New Mexico!

And it even cracks the top 10, coming in at No. 9 on the list.

A pretty impressive feat for El Paso's neighbor.

Here are the top 8 ahead of Las Cruces:

1. Nampa, ID
2. Lexington-Fayette, KY
3. Nashua, NH
4. Boise, ID
5. Provo, UT
6. Lincoln, NE
7. Fort Wayne, IN
8. Sioux Falls, SD

Maybe you're not that impressed with that list of cities. And maybe you think this list is a farce. But here's how the rankings are determined by WalletHub:

"How do we measure the effectiveness of local leadership? One way is by determining a city's operating efficiency. In other words, we can learn how well city officials manage and spend public funds by comparing the quality of services residents receive against the city's total budget."

Based on that description, I can already hear the callers lighting up the neckline and live call lines to complain about El Paso.

By the way, El Paso comes in at No. 48 on the list of 149 cities.

The overall ranking is determined by two categories: Quality of City Services and Total Budget Per Capita. Las Cruces ranks not so great in the former at No. 62, but it makes up for it with a No. 10 ranking in total budget per capita. El Paso is No. 45 and No. 63, respectively.

El Paso also gets majorly dinged in these two subcategories: Financial Stability (No. 119) and Infrastructure & Pollution (No. 116).
