Those of us lucky enough to live in El Paso or Las Cruces ... or, honestly, anywhere in the Borderland ... knows how awesome it is here. Now, word is getting out.

Travel and Tour World just listed the best "desert retreats" in 4 states; Texas, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada. El Paso made the list as well as two of our close neighbors in New Mexico.

Congrats to us, Cruces and Carlsbad.

Travel and Tour praised our desert areas for their beauty and the fact that they are true "getaways" being that they are not as crowded as other destinations across the USA.

What's So Great About The Southwest Desert?

While Arizona’s deserts are widely recognized, the lesser-known deserts in New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Texas offer equally captivating landscapes, but with fewer tourists. These regions provide peaceful desert escapes where visitors can enjoy rugged terrain, outdoor adventures, and cultural experiences without the overwhelming crowds typically found in Arizona. From the tranquil beauty of the Organ Mountains in New Mexico to the vast, untouched expanses of the Great Basin in Nevada, each destination provides its own unique, serene desert experience. - travelandtourworld.com

All that and you can chill here on a budget. El Paso is consistently ranked as a city where you can live/visit on the cheap. Were also a very cool, not cold, cool, winter destination.

LOOK: Go Inside Frank Sinatra's Private Desert Hideaway

For some, Frank Sinatra was the epitome of cool. It's no surprise his secluded California desert hideaway matched his persona. The sprawling property, which is currently on the market for just under $4 million is like look at the time capsule of a resort in the late '60s/early '70s.
