Flyers Re-Sign Scott Laughton to 2-Year Deal

One of the Flyers remaining restricted free agents has been locked up.

The Flyers announced on Friday that they have re-signed forward Scott Laughton to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $2.3 million. With the deal, Laughton and the Flyers avoid arbitration. A hearing was scheduled for July 30.

The deal leaves only Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny as remaining RFAs still left without deals.

Laughton, 25, scored 12 goals and 32 points last season for the Flyers, both career highs. Laughton has spent the last six seasons with the Flyers, including the last three full seasons, and was the team's first-round draft pick in 2012. He has 31 goals and 79 points in 272 career games.

Earlier on Friday, GM Chuck Fletcher had indicated that there was progress in talks with Laughton and that the deadline of an arbitration hearing would likely speed up the process.

In addition, Fletcher said that talks were "cordial and amicable" with Provorov's agent, but gets the sense that they are waiting to see what the market indicates for RFA defensemen. Other unsigned RFA defensemen include Charlie McAvoy, Zach Werenski and Jacob Trouba. Fletcher also said that talks with Konecny's camp have been good and that they will continue to work at it.

Following the re-signing of Laughton, the Flyers have $13.4 million left in cap space to sign the remaining two RFAs.
