Recently, my family and I threw a fiesta de colores- and it would appear that we were late to the party!

A fiesta de colores, or a color party, is exactly what you would think it is. Everyone gets assigned a color and you dress in the color, bring snacks in that color and overall, you are the representative for that color!

I chose orange; originally, I had chosen pink but there were no fun snacks with the color pink that I could find! So, off I went to buy anything in orange.

Well, the party was a blast but, soon after, I saw this Instagram post and realized that a fiesta de colores is so yesterday! The new trend is a Lotería themed party!

Okay, but how snazzy did El Catrin and La Dama look? This is the coolest thing I've seen since I saw the fiesta de colores trend!

According to this, all you really need is to dress up like your favorite Lotería card- this could mean you create an actual outfit to look exactly like the Lotería card, or you can just create a Lotería card with some poster board and stick your head through it like this video:

It doesn't look too hard; plus, it is Halloween season which means costumes, and costume accessories will be easy to find!

Just when I thought I was doing something that the cool kids did, another new trend comes along. We'll definitely be throwing a Lotería themed party and I'm sure we'll see some across the Borderland, especially as Halloween nears!
