Bravos de FC Juarez were able to salvage a draw on Saturday night in the city of Monterrey against Rayados. The 1-1 tie was good enough for the Bravos to bring one point back to the Borderland bringing their total to 11 points after 6 matches in this 2020 Clausura season. This is good enough for FC Juarez to find itself in 5th place in the standings, 3 points out of first place which currently belongs to Pumas.

The Bravos took the lead in the 29th minute when Maxi Olivera scored off of a header on a direct kick. However, five minutes later the home team would be able to tie the score when Monterrey’s star forward Rogelio Funes Mori would score off of a corner kick.

The second half would be one that was heavily contested as both team would go toe to toe in an effort to get the win. Monterrey would score in stoppage time only to have the goal negated in the instant replay review do to a very evident handball by player who scored the goal.

The tie was extremely good for the Bravos and detrimental for Rayados who are the defending champions but this season find themselves in dead last in the standings. The frustration was evident as the head coach for the Monterrey side was given a red card at the end of the match after he went straight to the referee to complain after the match was over. He will not be able to be on the bench for Monterrey’s next league match.

Meanwhile, the Bravos will look forward to a week that will see them play two matches. Wednesday will be the second match of a home and home series against Dorados in Copa MX play and on Sunday the team from the Borderland will host Santos in a league match.
