The El Paso Chihuahuas won the first game in team history Thursday, beating the Reno Aces 7-5. El Paso pounded 17 hits, including three each from Reymond Fuentes and Rico Noel. Jeff Francoeur hit the first home run in Chihuahuas history, and Brooks Conrad later added a pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning.
The Chihuahuas never trailed in the game and scored at least one run in their first four innings. Fuentes hit two of the Chihuahuas five doubles in the game. Eight of nine starting Chihuahuas, including pitcher Juan Oramas, had at least one hit in the win.
Three El Paso relievers, Jorge Reyes, Anthony Carter and Kevin Quackenbush, all pitched scoreless outings in their 2014 debuts. The game also had an unexpected sight in the eighth inning, when a gray cat ran onto the field.
