After spending the last 9 seasons in the Major Leagues, Jeff Francoeur is trying to get back to the show. "Frenchy" signed a Minor League deal with the San Diego Padres prior to the start of the season and has spent the last six weeks with the El Paso Chihuahuas. After a slow start, Francoeur has started heating up over the last few weeks. In his last 10 games, he has a .361 batting average with three home runs and five RBIs.

Even more impressive than Francoeur's offensive numbers are his pitching statistics. In four relief appearances this season, the Chihuahuas' right fielder has yet to give up a run and has only surrendered two hits. Those numbers are even more eye popping when you realize that Frenchy has not pitched in a game since high school. I spoke with him yesterday at Southwest University Park about his new baseball side job.
