The El Paso Chihuahuas scored eight runs on nine hits in the third inning Monday in their 10-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees. It was the most runs the Chihuahuas scored in a single inning of their inaugural season. El Paso won 11 of its last 14 games to finish with a 72-72 record, in second place out of four teams in the Pacific Conference Southern Division.
All 14 combined runs in the game came in the first four innings. Cody Decker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run over the center field wall, his team-leading 27th of the season. Decker hit five homers in his final eight games. Yeison Asencio went 3-for-3 with three RBIs Monday, falling a triple shy of a cycle. The Chihuahuas took four out of five games in the season-ending series against Salt Lake.
Jace Peterson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and finished with 23 hits in his final 12 games.
The eight run third inning proved to be the difference in the game and Cody Decker's 2-Run home run was the highlight of the inning.
In the fourth inning, Yeison Asencio scored the final run of the 2014 season with this solo shot.
