When former UTEP Miner Jordan Palmer joined us on Sportstalk to discuss his training camp with the Chicago Bears, he said the team would bring him back if anything happened to their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler. In yesterday's loss to Washington, Cutler suffered a groin injury early in the second quarter, and he did not return to play. Just like he predicted, Palmer was contacted by the Bears and asked to fly into Chicago Monday morning to back up Josh McCown.

Palmer had his best training camp with the Bears, and he played most of their last preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. Despite only laying in four regular season NFL games, Palmer has bounced around the NFL since being drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 6th round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals. The 29-year old has found himself in another great situation with the Bears and I hope that he will stick on the roster.
