The June 16th Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. boxing match has taken more twists and turns than most soap operas. In a wild turn of events, UT System Chancellor Francisco Cigarro will now allow the Sun Bowl to host the June 16th boxing event.

Cigarroa's decision comes just hours after El Paso's City Council had adopted a proposal to host the fight at Cohen Stadium. City Council was willing to put up a million dollar guarantee and an additional million dollar sponsorship to keep the fight in El Paso at Cohen Stadium. The news that the boxing card can now return to the Sun Bowl is a good one for promoter Bob Arum and Top Rank Inc., who preferred the larger venue all along. One fascinating concession to house the fight at the Sun Bowl is that:

"No beverages containing alcohol will be sold or served at this event nor are alcoholic beverages allowed to be brought onto University Property."
