Just five games into their short NBA season, the Boston Celtics suffered a major scare tonight. Rookie point guard Marcus Smart, the sixth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was carried off on a stretcher after injuring his ankle early in the 4th quarter against the Indiana Pacers. Smart was heading to the basket on a fast break when he landed wrong on his left leg and crumpled to the ground. Smart was screaming in pain and surrounded by players from both teams. He was carted off the court on a gurney to a standing ovation from the Celtics crowd at TD Garden Arena. Smart's X-rays came back negative, sources told ESPN. However, he will be undergoing an MRI on his injured ankle later tonight. The Celtics won the game 101-98.
