It never ceases to amaze me how much talent we have here in the borderland. Most recently, I found out that an El Paso born, Juarez raised young man is playing in a Mexican football club- but not just any team- turns out he plays for my favorite team: Santos Laguna!

His name is Santiago Muñóz and he's only 18 years old! I don't know how I never noticed, he's been playing with Santos since October! However, if I'm being perfectly honest, I haven't really been watching the Santos games lately because they've been losing and it's not good for my blood pressure. They are, however, doing much better! Maybe it's the power of Santiago- who's played in ten of their eleven past games.

Muñóz is a forward, and in the match against Toluca (that game I did get to see!) he assisted in all three goals made during the match. Despite him not actually making the goals, his assistance and performance during these last few matches is gaining lots of attention! According to Colin Deaver of KTSM, he's beginning to be compared to Raul Jimenez!

Muñóz also being considered an essential member of Santos!

Despite their losing streak, I have been and always will be a fan of Santos. In case you're wondering why I'm a Santos fan, it's my dad's hometown. A trip to Torreón will almost guarantee that we go see a game! Their stadium, Territorio Santos Modelo, is definitely a sight to behold!

As if I needed another reason to root for my team! Muñóz and Santos Laguna have two regular season games left in Liga MX’s Clausura. They will play at Pachuca on Monday, April 26, then host Puebla on Sunday, May 2.
