Bravos de FC Juarez will look to keep its undefeated streak intact this coming Sunday when it host Santos Laguna at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. FC Juarez will look to solidify its position in the playoff zone while the team from Torreon, Coahuila will look to move into the playoff zone as it is currently in 9th place in the standings table.

The Bravos come into Sunday’s match with an 8 match undefeated streak in both Liga BBVA and Copa MX play accumulating 5 wins and 3 draws in that stretch. These results are good enough put FC Juarez in 5th place in the standing in Liga BBVA and in the semifinals of Copa MX.

The team from the Borderland is enjoying its most successful streak since becoming a first division franchise in Mexican Soccer. After their most recent win on Wednesday in Copa MX and a draw last weekend against defending Champion Rayados in Monterrey in league play, head coach Gabriel Caballero was asked by 600 ESPN El Paso on Wednesday night if this team in the middle of taking a vital step in transcending and solidifying itself as a first division team.

Caballero responded, “I’ve said it since last season, we are a franchise that is in stages of growth and development. Of course it makes me happy that you in the media speak well of the team and our players, that we are obtaining results that makes our fans happy and that the institution can be proud of our efforts on the field of play. But we are taking it a step at time. Being a semifinalist in Copa MX, being in the top five in the standing in the league is obviously good but there’s still a long way to go and we can’t let down. We have to get back our injured players so the entire roster can be available and ready to go. One of goals is to create a team and stabilize it so it can compete with anyone we may face. We may win, we may lose, but then again this is what this game is about.”

The match against Santos will be sold out on Sunday and let’s hope that it is incident free in that inside and outside the stadium. This is a regional rivalry and it is no secret that these two fan bases do not like each other.

The match is scheduled to kickoff at 6pm MST and will be televised on TUDN nationally.
