The Baltimore Orioles unveiled new uniforms for the 2012 season Tuesday that include the team’s famous cartoon bird and a return to the orange jersey they haven’t used since 1992, the team’s inaugural season at Camden Yards.

Both changes are immediately in effect on all team apparel.

The bird was created from elements of both the 1970 and 1983 versions and replaces a depiction of a real bird that had supplanted it in recent decades.

The Orioles will switch off between the orange jerseys and the existing black ones.

While some fans are excited about a return to the old school uniforms, they’d no doubt be even more fired up if the once-proud franchise can return to its winning ways.
