The Arizona Cardinals have made history. They have the first female coach in NFL history. Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has brought in Jen Welter, who played 14 seasons of pro football, mostly in the Women’s Football Alliance, as a training camp/preseason intern coaching inside linebackers. Welter is believed to be the first woman to hold a coaching position of any kind in the NFL.

The Cardinals haven’t actually hired Welter, but even giving her a temporary intern position amounts to progress and hopefully will mean more opportunities in the future. Hopefully she will get hired to a full time position.
