Saturday night, boxing fans who packed the T-Mobile Arena and watched on HBO pay per view, definitely got their moneys worth, as they witnessed two of the best undefeated P4P fighters duke it out.

Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev, both put on a performance that should be a strong candidate for fight of the year. Kovalev, who is well known for his heavy hands was able to send the former gold medalist, Ward to the canvas in the second round. However, it wasn't long till Ward made adjustments using his jab and targeting Kovalev's body, which seemed to slow the powerful Russian.

The fight went the distance with both fighters laying it all out on the table, for the three belts that were on the line (WBA Super, WBA and WBO light heavyweight titles). Despite, Kovalev's early dominance the judges felt Ward did enough to comeback and take the unanimous decision.

The outcome of the fight didn't sit well with Kovalev or the boxing community, with many saying Kovalev was robbed. Not to take anything away from Kovalev but I believe in the 5th round Ward was able to turn the tide and settle in a bit. As the fight pressed on Kovalev"s punches didn't have the same sting due to fatigue and Ward capitalizing with excellent body work.

No matter how you saw the fight, I think we can all agree we witnessed a great one and should expect to see a rematch in the near future.
