A strange thing happened yesterday afternoon at Wrigley Field during the Cubs game with the Los Angeles Dodgers. During the second inning, home plate umpire Andy Fletcher looked like he was shot out of a cannon as he approached the pitcher's mound to confront Chicago's Jon Lester. Cubs catcher David Ross actually had to restrain Fletcher as he was yelling at the starting pitcher. Eventually Cubs manager Joe Madden came out of the dugout to continue the argument while protecting his starting pitcher. What is so bizarre about this scene is usually an umpire keeps their cool during games and tries to break up fights instead of starting one. Lester was even confused as to why Fletcher approached him in the first place, and said after the game that he was mad at himself and not the umpire's strike zone.
