Bravos de FC Juarez suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat against Puebla on the road Friday evening for their second loss of this young 2021 clausura season of the Liga BBVA MX. Still the 4-0 final is not fully indicative of the dismal performance that was put on display by the Bravos for 90 minutes, Puebla could have easily scored a couple of more goals.

The match started by Bravos spotting the home team one goal and the first 26 minutes of the match. Puebla got off to a quick, dominating start, scoring in the 5th minute with a goal by Santiago Ormeno.

The Bravos had no reaction, no semblance of ball possession or offensive capacity until the 26th minute of the match. Despite that, there was still no real threat on goal created by FC Juarez.

Puebla would score their second goal when Victor Velazquez would foolishly lose ball possession at midfield leading to an instantaneous fast break where Christian Tabo would score.

The Bravos would hit the right post on a shot on goal in stoppage time of the first half, making for the only real offensive threat in the entire first 45 minutes of the half.

Ormeno would score two more goals in the second half for the 4-0 Puebla win. His third goal would be off a penalty kick when Yoshimar Acosta unnecessarily tackled a Puebla player in the goalbox, awarding Puebla a penalty kick. Ormeno’s final goal of the night would come when Velazquez would pass a ball to a player from the other team inside his own goalbox and then allow that same player to get past him by not reacting thus not moving a inch.

The 4-0 loss is Bravos worst defeat since they have been in Mexico’s first division.

After the match FC Juarez head coach Luis Fernando Tena was critical in all aspects in his press conference comments. Tena said, “The final score speaks for itself. Puebla had a great game. Puebla has a well established style of play since last season and was able to score in the first five minutes of the match. Today no one did their job, not the players, not the coaching staff, the opposing team was thoroughly superior. Now it’s time to reflect on what happened.”

Needless to say it is going to be a very interesting and probably long week for FC Juarez as they will prepare to host Mazatlan FC who suffered a 3-0 loss at home Friday night against Atletico San Luis.
