Third year New York Jets quarterback is preparing for a much different Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season than anyone ever expected. That goes for head coach Robert Saleh and about 5 million Gang Green fans, as well.

The New York Jets have some competition.

The New York Jets have a three game winning streak largely because of their defense. The offense is better too, but the Jets are 4-2 because of their defense.

As we reported last week, 4th grader Lazar LaPenna, of Long Beach, New York, suffered a fatal seizure after hitting a baseball and running to first base. There was no injury caused by a baseball. Lazar suffered from epilepsy for several years and was on medication for seizures. LaPenna loved baseball and the Mets. His dad was his coach. The baseball world and others took notice of this awful tragedy and even took to Twitter to recruit everyone to pay tribute to the little boy from Long Island.

Fans of NFL gossip and rumors love mid-April. The Draft is next Thursday and the New York Jets, with 2 picks in the top 10 in 2022, are in the midst of many of those whispers. Wednesday afternoon, within a few hours of each other, ESPN reported that San Francisco 49ers All Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel and Arizona Cardinals All Pro quarterback Kyler Murray were both tied to the New York Jets.

The New York Jets reached an agreement in principle with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to hire him as their head coach.
