Despite 557 yards of total offense and 35 points, a pair of costly mistakes doomed the UTEP football team in their 44-35 loss to NMSU in the Battle of I-10.
UTEP dominated Charlotte for a half of football and Kai Locksley continues to improve. Unfortunately, the Miners still lost their eighth straight game.
After leading 21-7 at the end of the first half, the Miners allowed 21 unanswered points defensively as Charlotte came from behind and defeated the Miners 28-21 on Saturday night.
But in a tale of two halves, Charlotte ripped out the Miners' hopes at snapping their losing streak by putting up 297 yards of offense in the second half, scoring 21 unanswered points to beat UTEP 28-21 in a come-from-behind victory.
The Miners football squad (1-6, 0-4 C-USA) will hit the road this weekend to face a struggling North Texas team (3-5, 2-2 C-USA) at Apogee Stadium in Denton, TX.
