Strasburg Returns, Hopes to Play Whole Career With Nationals
Stephen Strasburg thinks he could now play his entire career with the Washington Nationals. The World Series MVP signed a $245 million, seven-year contract after opting out of his previous one. He will be 38 years old when this deal expires. Strasburg could become just the eighth pitcher in major league history to spend 17-plus years with the same franchise. That follows the lead of boyhood idol Tony Gwynn because the Hall of Famer spent his entire career with the San Diego Padres. Anthony Rendon decided to leave the World Series champions to sign with the Angels. Now the Nationals must try to replace Rendon.
