In response to current high demand for coronavirus tests and the alarming resurgence of COVID-19 in the community, the El Paso County Sportspark has been added to the growing list of COVID-19 testing sites.

Effective now, the Far East side sporting venue located at 1780 N. Zaragoza will serve as a drive-thru location from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, until further notice.

Like the other state testing sites in the city and county, testing is free and available to anyone 5 years and older with or without symptoms. No appointment is needed, but only 1,000 tests a day will be administered. Those choosing to use the Sportspark location are advised to use the entrance off Joe Battle.

The softball complex mega site is the fifth new location opened in recent weeks to handle demand for testing and cut down on wait times. Last week the county established Ascarate Park as a mega drive-thru testing site. Prior to that, the City of El Paso opened testing sites at UTEP, the Eastside Sports Complex on Montwood, and the Region 19 Kenworthy Complex located at 9776 Kenworthy.
