Although the UTEP football season is nearly three weeks old, fans now have an opportunity to support their favorite Miners in a way they never could before. The Official UTEP Online Store now has a College Athlete Shop featuring orange or navy blue t-shirts of many Miner players on the football roster. The Champion t-shirt has UTEP in the front of the shirt along with the player's jersey number. The back also features the player's number as well as name. The cost for the 100% shirts is $35 and sizes available for purchase range from small through XXX-Large.

What is significant about these t-shirts is that the football players will receive a cut of the sales though the Name Image Likeness agreement with the NCAA. This is the first time that UTEP student athletes have had an opportunity to make money on NIL through the sales of jersey t-shirts. Some Miners players like Jadrian Taylor, Praise Amaewhule, Gavin Hardison, Deylon Williams, and Deion Hankins have already collected NIL checks through appearance fees, football camps, and endorsements.

What is also interesting to note is that some UTEP football players did not take part in the voluntary jersey shirt initiative yet. Amaewhule, Hardison, Tyrin Smith, Kelly Akharaiyi, Andrew Meyer, and Keenum Stewart are some of the starters who have not participated in this NIL opportunity.

In June, UTEP announced that they were partnering with The Brandr Group (TBG) on licensing for student athletes. According to the release, TBG will support the collective use of student-athletes' NIL in licensing and marketing programs, facilitating opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, while not limiting individual NIL rights. All student-athlete participation is voluntary.

According to the website, the shirts will ship within a week of being ordered. That means these shirts will be ready to wear in time for UTEP's next home game against Boise State on September 23rd.
