El Paso is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in the United States. There are still some problems in the 9-1-5 though and crime does happen.

Tine and time again, El Paso gets ranked as one of the safest cities in the United States of America. According to texasview.org, the low crime rates are because of this:

With a population of over 670,000, El Paso—the second-largest major-Hispanic city in the US—is one of the safest cities in the country. It has the 2nd lowest property crime rate and 3rd lowest violent crime rate for a city with over 500,000 people. This is mostly thanks to its strong border security, large military presence, and tight-knit communities.

Still though, we're not a Utopia here and there is still crime. Some crimes are more common than others though so, here are the top 5 crimes you are most likely to be a victim of in El Paso.

  • Numero Uno, is theft. Texas View gave a total of 7,337 thefts in their report.
  • Number 2 is assault with 1,593 cases shown.
  • Burglaries took the #3 spot with 866 cases.
  • Over 400 auto thefts held the #4 spot - 417 in total.
  • 291 robberies got #5.

Bottom line, you are far more likely to have something stolen than anything else. The report doesn't breakdown exactly what was stolen the most but, I would guess everyday things like purses, wallets, phones or valuables.

I say that because they're small, often not immediately missed and easy to sell or otherwise get rid of.
